SINGAPORE – Get ready for a slightly pricier ride in ComfortDelGro’s luxury taxis. Starting January 2, 2024, several fare components will be adjusted to reflect rising operational costs.
The announcement, made through a Facebook post on December 26, outlines changes to departure fares, distance charges, waiting fees, and airport surcharges.
**Here’s a breakdown of the changes:**
* **Departure Fare:** Increases from S$4.80 to S$5.50
* **Distance Charges:** Rises from S$0.36 to S$0.38 per kilometer.
* **Waiting Fees:** Also increases from S$0.36 to S$0.38 per minute.
* **Point-to-Point Charges, Airport Surcharges, and Hourly Booking Charges:** All increase by S$5.
* **Additional Passenger Fees:** The surcharge for the fifth passenger in six-seater and seven-seater vehicles (including ordinary taxis) will jump dramatically from S$3 per person to S$9 per trip.
**Reasons for the Fare Increase**
ComfortDelGro stated that these fare adjustments are essential to help drivers cope with rising operational costs and ensure they receive fair compensation for their services. The company also emphasizes that the changes aim to attract more drivers to meet the growing market demand.
