Chief of Army Staff Inaugurates Combat Surveillance Battalion Headquarters in Bekasi
JAKARTA — Lt. Gen. Mohammad Fadjar, the Chief of Army Staff (Pangkostrad), inaugurated the headquarters of the Combat Surveillance Battalion (Yontaipur) in Serang, Cikarang Selatan, Bekasi Regency. The Phase 1 construction, covering an area of 3.3 hectares, includes the battalion headquarters, living quarters, and other facilities.
"The Phase 1 construction covers the work targets of the battalion headquarters, barracks, five living quarters, guardhouse, gate entrance, and land clearing and infrastructure," Fadjar said on Thursday (9/1/2025).
Fadjar revealed that Phase 2 construction will begin in February 2025, with an estimated budget of IDR 180 billion. The budget will be sourced from the center or the army, amounting to IDR 130 billion, with an additional IDR 50 billion in funding support from Bekasi Regency Government.
"Out of the budget from the regency government, IDR 30 billion will be used for the construction of road infrastructure and buildings, while IDR 20 billion will be allocated for bridge construction in the Cimahabang River sector," he explained.
Fadjar noted that the Bekasi Yontaipur was equipped with housing for soldiers and their families, providing them a complete base that could enhance their professionalism during training.
"Of course, soldiers will become more professional because they have their own practicing field here. With the base and housing, their families can be together, and their morale and quality of life will certainly improve, that’s our general hope," he added.
Beyond contributing to security, Fadjar stressed that the Yontaipur could also be beneficial to the local community. The army plans to provide national awareness education, including outbound activities for local students during holidays.
"In the future, if local students have free time, they can come here for outbound activities and national awareness education. We will certainly coordinate with the battalion friends," he said.
