Fresh orange warning issued for low temperatures and ice from Thursday evening – The Irish Times

  • Met Éireann’s orange level weather alert remains in place as temperatures fell as low as -7.5 degrees overnight, which was recorded in Mullingar, Co Westmeath. In Athenry, Co Galway, temperatures dropped to -7 degrees and -6.7 degrees in Oak Park, Co Carlow. In Dublin temperatures fell to -3 degrees.
  • The weather alert for Leinster, Munster, Connacht, Cavan and Monaghan will remain in place until 11am.
  • A number of schools in affected counties will remain closed today – while others issued notification of later start time of 11am this morning.
  • Hundreds of people remain without electricity overnight, with ESB working to reconnect at least 500 people.
