Caitlin Hale and Angelo Massagli: From School of Rock Co-Stars to Married Couple

From Schoolmates to Lifelong Partners: Caitlin Hale and Angelo Massagli’s Journey

A heartwarming tale of teenage friendship turned into a lifelong relationship, Caitlin Hale and Angelo Massagli’s story has taken a picturesque turn from their early years on set in School of Rock to a memorable wedding filled with nostalgia.

A Childhood Meeting on Set

Caitlin Hale and Angelo Massagli met as co-workers when they were just 10 years old. Both were cast in the 2003 film School of Rock, starring Jack Black. Hale, as the backup singer Marta, and Massagli as Frankie, developed a professional friendship that spanned far beyond the film’s sets.

The Unlikely Start

Massagli recalled his audition for the film, where he nervously performed Crazy Train by Ozzy Osbourne, timidly watching Hale impress the directors with her rendition of Everything’s Coming Up Roses.

Bonding in Entertainment

During their time filming School of Rock, the cast formed a strong bond, spending hours rehearsing and sharing meals together. The relationship between Hale and Massagli remained platonic.

Their shared experience not only led to a long-lasting friendship but also kept them connected through a constant group chat long after the movie’s release.

Two Paths Diverge … and Converge

Following their film careers, both individuals pursued separate paths. Hale earned her bachelor’s degree in journalism and public relations from Arizona State University. Meanwhile, Massagli completed a degree in English at Northeastern University.

Both later moved to Florida to further their education; Hale to Nova Southeastern University and Massagli to the University of Miami for law.

The Reunion

During their time in Florida, Massagli and Hale’s paths crossed again. They had lunch and reminisced about old times. “Something’s brewing here,” Massagli would recall.

Fall in Love

The friendship blossomed into romance over time. “We were like, ‘something’s brewing here,’” Massagli said, reflecting on the moments shared with Hale.

Hale, who was clear about her feelings early on, showed her decisiveness in a car. “I think I’m gonna marry this guy,” she confided to a friend.

Massagli’s declaration of love came with a hint of uncertainty, but their bond was strong. “I think I love you,” he said, to which Hale exclaimed with mock exasperation, “You think?!

The Proposal

In June 2023, Massagli proposed to Hale in front of the Temple of Dendur at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, near the statue featured in When Harry Met Sally… The moment was captured with joy on their moms’ faces, as well.

After a celebratory dinner at Nino’s, an Upper East Side restaurant, they toasted their future at the Carlyle Hotel.

The Wedding

Hale and Massagli chose to marry at Park Château Estate & Gardens, a Versailles-like venue in East Brunswick, New Jersey, on January 4, 2024, a decision inspired by their desire to “go all out.”

The couple tailored their wedding with meticulous detail. Hale’s attire included custom-made thigh-high Berta boots that peeked out of her strapless gown, a vintage touch inspired by her love for Studio 54&70’s glamour.

Guests were greeted with a cocktail hour featuring signature drinks: a Bellini for Hale and a dirty martini with blue cheese olives for Massagli. The venue was decorated with white flowers and hundreds of candles, adding a touch of elegance.

They danced the night away to music reminiscent of Studio 54, a venue known for its opulence and vibrancy. A live saxophone player roamed the reception, improvising over the popular tunes.

A Future Together

Now married and settled in Long Branch, New Jersey, Hale and Massagli embody the power of friendship turned romance. Their wedding, a celebration of their shared past in School of Rock and their current life together, serves as a reminder of how sometimes, the best things come full circle.

What’s Next?

Looking ahead, the couple intends to continue their careers and build a family together. They embrace their roles as former child actors who have found love, promising a joyful chapter as husband and wife.

Hale, who is an OB-GYN sonographer, brings a profession dedicated to life and wellness. Massagli, a lawyer for TikTok working as music product counsel, channels his passion for music and the arts into his legal career.

Shared Lessons

Their story highlights the importance of cherishing childhood friendships and allowing time to explore potential romances. Hale and Massagli’s journey teaches us that deep connections forged in youth can evolve into rewarding relationships, fueled by mutual respect and shared experiences.
