Talks between Fianna Fáil, Fine Gael and Independent TDs are set to continue amid a growing expectation that the sides are close to reaching an agreement on a programme for government.
Discussions ran late into the night as Independent TDs are still requiring clarity on several policy and constituency issues.
The Regional Independent group of TDs could miss out on a senior Cabinet post as talks on government formation look to have entered their final phase.
The group which could see up to seven of its TDs supporting the next Government is in line to get a super junior role along with possibly two other Minister of State positions.
