A fierce row between GAA president Jarlath Burns and former Derry manager Rory Gallagher has led to the threat of legal action.

It began with an email, sent by Burns to Naas GAA, warning them that their reputation was at risk if they appointed the Fermanagh man to a new role.

Gallagher stood down as Derry football coach in 2023 after his estranged wife Nicola publicly alleged she was the victim of domestic abuse. He has consistently denied her claims and no charges have been pressed against him.

However, the controversy has renewed on foot of his efforts to get back coaching within the GAA.
