Loh Kean Yew fended off a late challenge from Lee Chia-hao to pick up his first win of the 2025 badminton campaign at the BWF India Open 2025 on Wednesday (15 January).
Loh managed to get past the opening hurdle with a 21-15, 22-20 win over Lee of Chinese Taipei. Loh went out in the first round at the Malaysia Open earlier this month, his maiden tournament of the season.
The Singaporean safely navigated his way through the opening game of the Round of 32 clash, but was tested by Lee in the second.
Lee had Loh cornered with an 18-15 advantage before Loh clawed back to even the score at 19. Lee saved the first match point yet succumbed to the Paris 2024 Olympian the second time around.
