RTE are set to lose the rights to broadcast League of Ireland games for the 2025 season. In a major blow to the broadcaster’s sports coverage, the FAI are on the brink of handing an exclusive deal for league games to Virgin Media.

The National League Committee, the governing body of the League of Ireland, has approved the idea of handing full TV rights to the commercial broadcaster after they offered to cover 36 games in the 2025 season – a move that would leave RTE out of the picture.
