Dancing With the Stars: Shock Elimination on the Horizon?
Tension is mounting on the glittering ballroom floor of Dancing with the Stars as the first elimination looms. Judge Arthur Gourounlian, known for his sharp critiques and unwavering passion, has hinted at a potential “shock elimination” in the premiere week, leaving fans buzzing with anticipation.
Speaking to RTÉ entertainment, Gourounlian revealed that viewers shouldn’t be surprised if fan favorites fall early. "I’m actually panicking because people are saying, ‘Oh, we know who’s going to go.’ I was like, ‘No, I don’t know who’s going to go – as it might very well be a shock elimination!’”
While Gourounlian acknowledges the excitement surrounding certain contestants, he believes the public vote could surprise everyone. Early exits can be particularly disheartening, especially for those hoping to make a strong impression. Gourounlian, however, offers words of encouragement, emphasizing that early departures shouldn’t be seen as failures.
"Nobody wants to go in week one [of eliminations] because they feel like it’s an embarrassment and a fail – but it’s not,” he shared, drawing on his husband Brian Dowling’s experience as a contestant in 2020.
Adding to the intrigue, Gourounlian shared that he won’t be participating in eliminations until later in the series.
"Thank God I’m not sending anybody home this Sunday; it is starting a little bit later on. It is always sad,” he admitted.
Despite his reputation as a tough judge, Gourounlian insists he’s still the same person. “I’m still the nice Arthur!” he laughed, though he admits to enjoying “to push the boundaries” occasionally.
As the countdown to the first elimination begins, viewers are glued to their screens, eager to see who survives the dance-off. Tune in to RTÉ One and RTÉ Player this Sunday at 6:30pm to witness the drama unfold.
