There is a (bad) romantic comedy movie, ‘27 Dresses,’ in which Katherine Heigl shows her romantic interest that she has 27 ugly bridesmaid dresses and has never been the bride. Somewhere in an office at Roger Centre, there is a closet with the same number of dresses, for the Blue Jays front office.
This last one bugged me because when they graded for Myles Straw, I figured they must be sure they are getting Roki Sasaki. After all, who in their right mind would trade for Straw and most of the $14.75 million left on his contract if they weren’t sure.
If the Padres did win Sasaki’s hand, they had a trade ready to pick up international money. The Dodgers made a deal after signing him to increase their pool money.
