Heavy rain and ‘damaging’ winds in store as Met Éireann issues weather advisory

Spells of heavy rain and “damaging” winds are in store later this week, Met Éireann have said.

A low-pressure system will sweep close to Ireland on Thursday night and Friday, but the weather will begin turning before that.

The national forecaster issued a weather advisory for the entire country on Monday.

It reads: “On Thursday night and during Friday, a deepening Low-Pressure system is forecast to track close to Ireland. Very strong winds are likely across the country with the potential for damaging wind gusts and disruption in places.

“High seas and spells of heavy rain are expected also.”

They say that the situation is “evolving” and they are continuously monitoring things.
