Loh Kean Yew eliminated from 2025 Indonesia Masters

Singaporean badminton player Loh Kean Yew’s disappointing run of results continued with a three-game loss to Lin Chun-yi in the first round of the 2025 Indonesia Masters on Wednesday, 22 January.

The former world champion went into the match under pressure. A first-round exit at the Malaysia Open last month followed by a quarter-final loss to Olympic champion Viktor Axelsen at the India Open last week saw Loh slip down the world rankings to no.13.

But the 27-year-old came out firing against his Chinese Taipei opponent in Jakarta, racing to a 21-5 opening game win with some impressive overhead smashes.
