Gardaí treating man’s death in Cork fire as suspicious

Gardaí in Cork are treating as suspicious the death of a man whose body was found following a fire in the city last night.

The man’s body was found following a fire at an apartment on Togher Road in the southside of the city.

The deceased, who was 62, has been named locally as Michael O’Sullivan.

A garda technical examination is currently under way at the flat in the three-storey building near the Lough.

Door to door enquiries have also begun.

Four units of Cork City Fire Brigade attended the property at 6.50pm yesterday evening and brought the fire under control.

The fire was contained within one room at the flat.

A second person was treated at the scene…
