Outrage Erupts in Ayodhya as Dalit Woman Found Dead, MP Vows to Resign if Justice Fails

Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh – A pall of grief and anger has descended upon Ayodhya following the discovery of a 22-year-old Dalit woman’s body in a canal near her village on Saturday morning. The gruesome discovery has ignited widespread protests and demands for swift justice, with the victim’s family alleging a brutal murder.

The victim, who had been missing since Thursday evening, was found by her brother-in-law in a desolate canal approximately 500 meters from their home. Her body bore signs of foul play, with the family stating that her hands and legs were tied, and she had deep wounds and fractures. The harrowing sight of the deceased caused two women, including her elder sister, to faint.

The family has accused the local police of inaction, claiming that their initial missing person’s report was not handled with adequate urgency. Circle Officer Ashutosh Tiwari confirmed that a missing person’s report was filed on Friday and that a post-mortem examination is underway to ascertain the cause of death.

Ayodhya MP Awadhesh Prasad was visibly distraught upon learning of the incident. In a heartbreaking display of anguish, he vowed to resign from his position if justice was not served. "What will history say? How did this happen to the girl child?", he lamented, appealing to Lord Ram and Mother Sita for answers.

Despite soothing words from his colleagues urging him to remain steadfast, Prasad’s emotional plea reflects the intensity of public anger and the demand for accountability within the community.

Hundreds gathered at the site where the body was found, chanting slogans and demanding swift action against the perpetrators. The incident has sparked outrage among residents and activists alike, who see this tragedy as a reflection of the ongoing struggle for justice and equality for marginalized communities.

An investigation is currently underway, with authorities working to identify and apprehend those responsible for this horrific crime. As the nation watches, the case raises crucial questions about the safety and security of women, particularly those belonging to vulnerable groups, and the urgency for effective law enforcement and societal change.
