Australia’s First Nations netball team, the Black Swans, are poised to make their mark on the international stage at the prestigious PacificAus Sports Netball Series, held in Brisbane from February 17th to 22nd. This year’s tournament marks a significant step for the team, building on their historic debut in 2024.
Facing off against fierce international competition, including reigning champions Tonga Tala, the Fiji Pearls, Papua New Guinea Pepes, Samoa Tifa Moana, and newcomers the Scottish Thistles, the Black Swans are ready for the challenge.
Under the guidance of Head Coach Ali Tucker-Munro, the 2025 team boasts a powerful blend of experienced veterans and promising newcomers eager to leave their mark. "Leading a First Nations national team onto the world stage is truly special," shares Tucker-Munro. "It’s a vision that inspires younger players, coaches, and umpires, showcasing the incredible pathways available within our sport. I’m incredibly excited about the talented group of young women we’ve selected for this series."
One shining star is Yamatji/Noongar mid-courter Tierrah Miller, making her debut for the Black Swans. Having originally focused on football, Miller’s journey back to netball was ignited through the First Nations Tournament last year.

Miller’s story is a testament to the transformative power of opportunity and mentorship. Joining her on the court is a skilled support team, including Assistant Coach Natalee George. George brings invaluable experience, honed through Netball Australia’s First Nations coaching course and her work with Netball ACT’s inaugural team at the pilot First Nations Tournament in Melbourne.

The Black Swans’ performance promises a whirlwind of inspiring moments, intense competition, and a vibrant celebration of Indigenous culture and athletic excellence.
