Tirana is undergoing a dramatic transformation as it embraces a wave of architectural innovation. The city’s skyline is set to be redefined by a series of striking skyscrapers designed by renowned international studios, including MVRDV, Stefano Boeri, and OODA. These projects not only aim to modernize Tirana but also celebrate its rich cultural heritage, blending contemporary design with elements of Albanian identity.

Nearing completion near the city’s central square, this 85-meter-tall structure doubles as a “figurative sculpture of Gjergj Kastrioti, the 15th-century military commander known locally as Skanderbeg. The building is designed to be a distinctive landmark, reflecting Albania’s architectural traditions. “These days, cities around the world increasingly look alike – I always encourage them to resist this, to find their individual character and emphasize it,” said founding partner Winy Maas. “To me, the Skanderbeg Building is an opportunity to do just that.
