Women’s Ice Hockey Final Olympic Qualification hosts Sweden and Germany were victorious in their opening games on Thursday (6 February) as quota spots for the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026 hang in the balance.
Sweden, hosting Group H in Gävle, earned a 3-0 victory over Norway. Lova Blom (5’), Lisa Johansson (36’), and Lina Ljungblom (51’) gave Sweden one goal in each period.
Group I hosts Germany defeated Austria, 2-0. Held in Bremerhaven, the German squad saw two goals in the second period, with Celina Haider (23’) and Emily Nix (35’) adding one apiece.
