The Michelin sommelier award for the UK and Ireland went to Daróg wine bar in Galway city, which is run by Zsolt Lukács and Edel McMahon-Lukács with Daróg also scooping a Bib Gourmand award.
All current holders of Michelin stars in Ireland retained their stars.
The awards were announced at the annual Britain & Ireland Michelin Guide ceremony at Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum in Glasgow, Scotland, this evening.
Richard Picard-Edwards, executive chef at Ballyfin, said he was “absolutely thrilled” to win a star.
