Philippines heads into midterm elections: 5 things to know

MANILA — The Philippines on Tuesday kicked off the three-month campaign period for midterm elections to be held on May 12, which would gauge the public’s assessment of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s government and shape the country’s political landscape toward the next presidential election in 2028.
