At least a dozen lorries have had their windscreens smashed or sustained other damage and have been forced to stop along the M7 motorway in Co Tipperary on Wednesday evening.

Suspected rock-throwing youths targeted the trucks on a stretch of the motorway eastbound between Birdhill and Nenagh as the vehicles travelled at high speed on the 120kmh limit road.

Photos and videos circulating show windscreens of vehicles that had been smashed by rocks, along with damage to vehicle bodies.
