New York Jets and Rodgers go their separate ways

The New York Jets are parting with quarterback Aaron Rodgers, the team confirmed on Thursday, closing the book on the ill-fated partnership between the team and the four-time NFL MVP.

The Jets signed the 10-time Pro Bowler in a 2023 trade with the Green Bay Packers but Rodgers’ tenure in New York derailed when he tore his Achilles tendon minutes into his regular season debut with the team.

The 41-year-old started all 17 games and threw for 3,897 passing yards and 28 touchdowns in the most recent season but repeated rumours of friction with team owners led to widespread speculation that he was unlikely to return.
