Doctor realizes he’s having a heart attack while treating patient for heart attack

TIMMINS, Ontario (WKRC) – A doctor learned he was having a heart attack while treating a cardiac patient who was experiencing the same symptoms the doctor had displayed for months.

According to a press release from Timmins and District Hospital (TDH), Dr. Chris Loreto had been experiencing intense chest pains for over four months, which he chalked up to acid reflux. Specifically, the pain would reach its highest intensity during exercise and the acid reflux medication his doctor prescribed was not helping.

The pain came to a head on Nov. 12 while Loreto was playing hockey, but he “shrugged it off,” according to TDH, the hospital Loreto worked for.
