Kanlaon Volcano discharged a thick ash plume from its summit crater on Saturday, Feb. 15, in an eruption that lasted eight minutes, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.
The volcano started emitting at 2:32 p.m., the state seismology agency stated.
According to Phivolcs, seismic and infrasound records confirmed the eruption, which produced a grayish ash plume rising 1,500 meters above the summit before drifting westward.
IP camera recordings from the southern side of the volcano captured the event, it added.
