Ajit Pawar Shocks Amid Allegations of Bill Fudging Without Work

Ajit Pawar Accuses Contractors of Billing for Nonexistent Work in Maharashtra

Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Ajit Pawar has raised serious concerns about unethical practices among contractors in the state. He alleged that contractors are submitting bills and receiving payments for developmental work that hasn’t been executed.

Ajit Pawar Expresses Shock and Disappointment

Pawar, who addressed a program in Partur, Jalna district, shared his deep concern over the “substandard” quality of work being done despite significant government spending. He warned that such practices would not be tolerated.

“Bills are being submitted and money withdrawn without executing work. Don’t come to my party (NCP),” Pawar said, emphasizing his commitment to ethical practices within the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).

Government Officials Called to Account

The Deputy Chief Minister also directed his rhetoric towards government officials, urging them to fulfill their duties with sincerity.

“The government spends crores of rupees on salaries and pensions, yet quality work is not being delivered. We have implemented the Seventh Pay Commission and are now moving towards the Eighth Pay Commission. Why is responsibility not being taken by government officials?” he questioned.

Shocking Quality of Government Buildings

Pawar’s visit to the newly constructed collector’s office in Jalna left him shocked at the negligence.

“I was shocked to see the shoddy work. This kind of negligence will not be tolerated,” Pawar emphasized, underscoring the urgency of addressing these issues.

Government Rest House Incident Highlights the Problem

The Deputy Chief Minister’s dissatisfaction extended to public infrastructure. He was advised to avoid the state government rest house due to mosquito infestations, opting instead for a private facility.

“Government officials and public representatives must take responsibility and perform their duties with integrity,” Pawar added.

Financial Support for Medical College Hospital, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

Despite his criticism, Pawar announced financial support for the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, ensuring it received Rs 500-800 crore to meet the needs of the poor and needy.

“GMCH officials have requested financial assistance. I have assured them support, as the hospital services must be delivered efficiently,” he said.

Hygiene Issues at the Hospital

However, Pawar’s commendation for funding was balanced by concerns over hygiene at the hospital. He expressed frustration over spitting and defacement within the premises.

“I have been informed that people are spitting in the hospital. Such behavior should be punished. Install CCTV cameras and catch those responsible,” Pawar directed, highlighting the need for strict enforcement and oversight.

Conclusion: Stepping Up Accountability

Ajit Pawar’s aggressive stance on accountability and ethical practices within government and contractor circles sends a clear message. His initiatives on improving infrastructure and cleanliness demonstrate a commitment to making a tangible difference in the lives of Maharashtra’s citizens. However, the challenge remains in ensuring that these commitments are translated into action across the board.
