Ireland needed to beat France to keep their Six Nations and Grand Slam hopes alive but they failed to take their chances in the opening minutes and were comprehensively outplayed by France in the second half, losing out on a final scoreline of 42-27.
Dan Sheehan’s 43rd minute try gave Ireland a 13-8 lead, but that was as good as it got and France soon began to dominate and cruised to glory, after tries from Paul Boudehent, Louis Bielle Barrey, Oscar Jegou and Penaud.
