The Trump administration may be planning to eliminate or reorganize the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Division of HIV Prevention, possibly as soon as this week, news sources reported late in the day on March 18. Advocates are asking people to call or write to their legislators to urge them to oppose the cuts.
“HIV testing, pre- and post-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP/PEP), and preventive services are essential to ending the HIV epidemic,” Ande Stone, of the San Francisco AIDS Foundation, said in an alert from the HIV Action Network Tuesday afternoon. “We must protect widespread access to these lifesaving tools.”
