A 32-year-old man has pleaded guilty to possession of a sub-machine gun in Finglas in Dublin three years ago.
Glen Ward, who has an address in Finglas, admitted he had a .223 Remington AR-15 semi-automatic rifle in circumstances as to give rise to a reasonable inference that he did not have it for a lawful purpose.
Ward replied guilty when the charge was put to him in the Special Criminal Court.
He has been remanded in custody for sentencing in April.
The maximum sentence for the firearms offence is 14 years.
