Sarah Hoefflin has capitalised on home advantage in Engadin, Switzerland, with a strong result in the freestyle skiing Big Air qualification.
The PyeongChang 2018 Olympic slopestyle champion finished first in the qualifying event at the 2025 Freeski World Championships on Wednesday (26 March), narrowly topping Canadian rival Megan Oldham by 1.5 points with a score of 169.00.
Neither skier improved on their final run, with Hoefflin’s opening run of 86.75 being the best of the pair’s efforts.
The 34-year-old Swiss, who has won gold at both the Olympic Winter Games and X Games, now has the chance to add a first world title to her trophy cabinet in Friday’s final in St. Moritz.
