Illegal cigarettes worth €6.9 million have been seized at Dublin Port.
The 7.6 million cigarettes, branded ‘Omega’, were found when customs officers searched an unaccompanied container that disembarked a ship that had arrived from Antwerp, Belgium.
The container originated in the United Arab Emirates.
The officers were assisted by detector dog Milo.
The estimated loss to the Exchequer is €5,459,500.
