Indonesia approves US$7.1 billion for food security in 2025


Rice forms the basis of the Indonesian cuisine and is used in most national dishes. To safeguard this vital commodity, the Indonesian government is taking steps to secure stable rice supplies.


According to the Indonesian Ministry of Finance, US$7.1 billion has been earmarked for food security programmes in 2025. The funds will flow into three key areas: expanding rice stockpiles, modernising equipment, and backing strategic investment projects. The officials emphasised that this marks a major shift from past practices, which heavily relied on funding the stock market and real estate sector.
