Wicklow man who rowed the Atlantic to tackle the Pacific with world-famous partner

Recognised as one of the outstanding feats of bravery, endurance and altruism the Garden County witnessed in 2024, Andrew and Eamon Breen’s epic 3,000-mile race across the Atlantic will live long in memory, with tales of fatigue, sleep deprivation and near capsizes capturing the public’s imagination.

After 42 days at sea, the battle-weary siblings stepped onto the dock in Antigua and embraced their loved ones, before an interviewer jokingly asked the duo if they would ever set foot on an ocean rowing boat again.

Harbouring a sense of unfinished business, Andrew’s desire to compete again was spurred by a chance meeting with Australian rower Liz Wardley, who was competing in the same ‘World’s Toughest Row’ competition…
