Money for nothing: Two members of staff resign as ‘terror group tries to muscle in on public funds’
A probe has been launched into suspicion of embezzlement of public funds at the Ballymac Friendship Centre in the east of the city.
The centre has been mired in controversy in recent times with claims of interference from the UVF. It has also been the scene of so-called UVF shows of strength, staged despite opposition from centre staff.
The centre was grant-funded by the Executive Office at Stormont which is now investigating the claims, along with the Charity Commission. The PSNI has also confirmed they are keeping a watching brief with a view to possible criminal proceedings…
