The Grand National is the people’s race, but it especially brings Liverpool together and a former Premier League footballer for the Reds has revealed his big-race tips.
Stephen Warnock, who also played for Blackburn Rovers and England, is firing two darts at the National.
“I’ve come prepared and the two I’ve picked out are Three Card Brag and Minella Cocooner, both each-way,” he tells me in the corner of a bustling press room.
Warnock is prepped to be a part of BBC Radio 5Live’s coverage, which comes from Aintree today and will be presented by Mark Chapman, and knows just how much Grand National day means to his home city.
