Easing Congestion: Construction Underway on Key Interchange

Commuters near issoire can anticipate smoother travels as construction progresses on a new roundabout designed to enhance both safety adn traffic flow at a crucial highway interchange. The project, initiated in early April, is slated for completion by mid-June, promising a important upgrade to the area’s infrastructure.

Project Goals: Enhanced Safety and Efficiency

the primary objective of this infrastructure project is to alleviate congestion and improve safety at the exit connecting to the A75 highway via ramp number 13. The new roundabout is expected to streamline traffic movement, reducing the risk of accidents and delays that have plagued this particular junction.

This roundabout should provide more security and fluidity on this output connected to the highway by ramp number 13.

Construction Phases: A Detailed Breakdown

The construction is being carried out in four distinct phases to minimize disruption and ensure the project’s timely completion:

Phase 1: Initial Preparations (Completed)

The initial phase involved the removal of the existing island at exit ramp 13 and the creation of a temporary roadway to facilitate traffic flow during the subsequent stages. This phase was completed within two days.

Phase 2: Entrance Ramp Construction (Ongoing)

Currently underway, this phase focuses on the construction of the roundabout on the A75 entrance ramp. While traffic on the RD 996 is being maintained in both directions, alternating traffic patterns may be implemented during critical construction activities. Notably, the highway access ramp will be temporarily closed during this phase, which is expected to last approximately five weeks.

Phase 3: exit Ramp 13 Work (Upcoming)

The third phase will concentrate on the exit ramp 13 itself. During this two-week period, the ramp will be closed to traffic to allow for the necessary construction work.

Phase 4: Final Touches and Implementation (Final Stage)

The final phase encompasses the finishing touches, including landscaping, edge installation, paving, safety barrier implementation, and the installation of road markings and signage. This phase is also expected to take around two weeks.

Traffic Management and Potential Disruptions

Motorists are advised to plan their journeys accordingly, especially during Phase 2 and Phase 3,when ramp closures and alternating traffic patterns may cause delays.Real-time traffic updates and detour information will be available through various navigation apps and local traffic authorities.
