National Hockey Tournament to Spotlight Donghae City
Donghae City is preparing to welcome hundreds of athletes and hockey fans as it hosts the 44th National Society National Southern and Yo-Ki Competition alongside the 25th national Sports Hockey Competition. The event, scheduled from April 19th to 26th, will take place at the Sunrise International Hockey Stadium within the Well-being Leisure Sports Town.
A Diverse field of Competitors
This year’s tournament boasts remarkable participation, with approximately 50 teams and 800 individuals, including athletes and officials, expected to attend. The competition will feature a mix of professional and amateur teams, showcasing the breadth of hockey talent across the country. Specifically, the lineup includes 38 professional sports teams and 12 teams from the Ministry of Living and Sports. The Ministry of Sports and Sports teams are further divided into various categories,including seven southern central teams,five middle school teams,eleven South High School teams,five high school teams,four South korean teams,three women’s teams,and three South Korea teams. Additionally,the Ministry of Sports and Sports will field five senior teams,five mixed teams,and junior and master teams.
Economic Boost for Donghae City
Beyond the sporting excitement, Donghae City anticipates important economic benefits from hosting the tournament.Despite current economic challenges, the city projects an economic impact of around 420 million won, driven by increased spending in local accommodation, food services, and retail sectors. This influx of revenue is expected to provide a welcome boost to local businesses.

Chun Soo-jeong, Director of Sports and Education, emphasized the city’s commitment to the event’s success. We will successfully hold a national hockey competition, and we will set the foundation for Donghae City to grow into an optimal battery training and sports tourism base city.
