The association between modified cardiometabolic index with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and liver fibrosis: a cross-sectional study | BMC Gastroenterology

Study population

This study was conducted based on the publicly accessible data from NHANES 2017–2018 (https://wwwn.cdc.gov/nchs/nhanes). The procedures and protocols of NHANES have been reviewed and approved by the National Center for Health Statistics Research Ethics Review Board and written informed consent was obtained from each participant. Firstly, a total of 9254 participants was enrolled. Then, 5494 of those with complete elastography exam was selected. Finally, after the removal of individuals with missing data, heavy drinker, hepatitis B and/or C virus infection, 1385 participants were included for the analysis (Fig. 1).
