Madrid Marathon 2025: All results, times and standings

Derara Hurisa and Maritu Ketema made it an Ethiopian double by winning the elite races at the 2025 Madrid Marathon on Sunday (27 April).

Hurisa, who was stripped of victory at the 2021 Vienna City Marathon when the soles of his running shoes were found to have exceeded the permitted thickness, ran alone for much of the second half of the race and crossed the line first in 2:09:12.

Compatriot Limenih Getachew was 16 seconds back in second with Spain’s Yago Rojo rounding out the podium in 2:09:37.

Ketema took five minutes off her previous personal best to take the women’s title, clocking 2:25:55. Another Ethiopian, Zinash Dibebe, was just over a minute back in second place. Kenya’s Betty Chepkorir was third in 2:28:58.
