Published: April 30,2025 by Archynetys News

Early Summer Heatwave Intensifies Fire Hazards

A surge in temperatures is expected today, bringing early summer heat to many regions. daytime temperatures are predicted to reach 26°C in Seoul, a significant 5°C increase from yesterday. Othre areas will experience even higher temperatures, with Jeonju forecast to reach 27°C and Gimcheon perhaps hitting 29°C. This unseasonably warm weather exacerbates the already high risk of forest fires across the country.

Dry Conditions Fuel Fire Concerns

The eastern regions are currently under a dry alarm, with effective humidity levels below 25%. A drying warning has been issued for most other areas. These arid conditions, coupled with potential gusts of wind reaching up to 70 km/h along the west coast and in mountainous areas, create an environment highly conducive to the rapid spread of wildfires. Authorities urge extreme caution and vigilance to prevent any ignition.

As a condition that is easy to spread to a big fire, you should never slow down the tension.

According to recent data from the Korea Forest Service, the number of wildfires this year has already exceeded the 5-year average, highlighting the increased vulnerability due to climate change and prolonged dry spells.

Nationwide Rain Expected to Bring Relief

Relief from the heat and dryness is on the horizon, with widespread rainfall anticipated across the country tommorow. The heaviest rainfall is expected in Gyeongbuk, with accumulations exceeding 30mm. Seoul and Daegu, both regions recently impacted by significant forest fires, are also expected to receive substantial rainfall.

Weather Alert: Strong Winds and thunderstorms

While the rain will help mitigate the fire risk, it will also bring potentially hazardous conditions. Strong winds are forecast nationwide, and thunderstorms with lightning are possible in some areas. Residents are advised to take precautions and stay informed about weather updates.

Detailed Forecast and coastal Conditions

Today, expect clear skies across most of the country. Though, the east coast may experience strong waves. Temperatures this morning started at 19.8°C in Gangneung and 10.7°C in Seoul. Daytime highs will reach 26°C in Seoul, 27°C in Wonju, and 27°C in Jeonju. Tomorrow’s rain will begin in the metropolitan area in the morning and gradually spread nationwide.
