Leinster and Ireland captain Caelan Doris’ hopes of playing in the Lions tour to Australia this summer are hanging by a thread due to the severity of the shoulder injury he picked up in his side’s Champions Cup semi-final defeat to Northampton last weekend.

The No 8 was forced off in the 56th minute at the Aviva Stadium, and the Irish Independent understands that Doris underwent surgery today, and as a result, he may be facing four to six months out.
