India and Pakistan confirm immediate ceasefire after US mediated talks

India and Pakistan have agreed to a ceasefire deal after the United States mediated talks to end their conflict following four consecutive day of strikes and counterstrikes.

It has been the two countries most serious confrontation in decades with dozens of civilians killed after weeks of clashes and strikes across the border, triggered by a gun massacre on tourists in India-controlled Kahmir last month.

New Delhi blamed Pakistan for backing the attack, an accusation Islamabad rejects.

US President Donald Trump first broke the news on Saturday on Truth Social announcing India and Pakistan had agreed to a “full and immediate ceasefire”.
