Three cyclists injured in Cork hit and run

Emergency services are currently at the scene on the R627 near Westpark, in Midleton.

Gardai confirmed they received a report of a road traffic collision involving a car and three bicycles in the area.

Gardaí said the collision occurred at approximately 8.05pm and that the motorist “failed to remain at the scene”.

“The three cyclists are receiving medical assessment for injuries believed to be non-life-threatening at this time,” gardaí said

“The road is currently closed with local diversions in place.

“Investigations are ongoing.” 

Speaking to the Irish Examiner, local TD Pat Buckley said he lives close to the area where the incident occurred.
