Liverpool have reportedly promised Florian Wirtz that if he joins them this summer, he’ll become the figurehead of a new team at Anfield.
German outlet Kicker reports that Wirtz has been “greatly impressed” by the Reds after a meeting between the player’s family and the newly crowned Premier League champions. He’s expected to leave Bayer Leverkusen this summer amid interest from both the Merseysiders and Bayern Munich.
Manchester City have reportedly pulled out of the race for the 22-year-old, which leaves Bayern and Liverpool to scrap it out for one of the hottest prospects in Europe. He’s set to cost significantly more than €100 million (£85 million), but the Anfield outfit are prepared to go “to the limit”.
