Learning the steps and love for ice dance with the help of the Reeds
After her first, not-so-flattering impression of Ambrulevicius wore off, Reed would sometimes cross paths with the budding ice dancer since he was training at the same rink in Canton, Michigan as Cathy and Chris Reed.
In 2017, Reed and Ambrulevicius both found themselves lingering on the sidelines without skating partners. Ambrulevicius’s partner Taylor Tran was injured at the time, while Reed had taken a two-year break after splitting up with Vasili Rogov and was slowly returning to skating.
To pass the time, they would sometimes team up and skate together – until one day Ambrulevicius popped the ultimate ice dance question.
