Cervical cancer is one of the most preventable malignancies, yet gaps in prevention persist across patient populations and health systems. A recent scoping review mapped the application of the social ecological model (SEM) in cervical cancer prevention to determine how the framework could be leveraged for tailored interventions and care strategies.
A team of Brazilian researchers conducted the study in accordance with the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) guidelines and published their findings in Cancer Causes & Control. They evaluated data across 13 databases and updated their search in July 2025. In addition, “primary quantitative and qualitative studies address the use of SEM in cervical cancer prevention were included, with no restrictions on time or language.”
