Melissa Leo Says She Had a ‘Better Career’ Before Winning an Oscar

Melissa Leo, who won the best supporting actress Oscar for “The Fighter” in 2011, said during a Q&A with The Guardian that her career was “much better” before winning the award.

“Winning an Oscar has not been good for me or my career,” Leo said. “I didn’t dream of it, I never wanted it and I had a much better career before I won.”

Leo’s comments were in response to a question about what “goes through your mind” when your name is called during the Oscars.
