Giovanni Franzoni: “It’s been something really, really nice for me”
Sinner’s acknowledgement is the latest chapter in a blossoming friendship between the two Italian sporting stars.
Their surprising connection first came to light after Franzoni’s breakout super-G victory in Wengen.
During a press conference at the Australian Open, Sinner – once an avid skier – discovered that he had once beaten Franzoni when racing as juniors back in 2009.
The news prompted Sinner to follow Franzoni on social media, and the two exchanged messages, which ultimately left quite the impression on the skier ahead of his race in Kitzbühel.
