Should Indonesia Pay US$1 Billion for Board of Peace Membership?

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – United States President Donald Trump reportedly requested US$1 billion (equivalent to Rp16.82 trillion) for members of the Board of Peace (BoP). As it is known, Indonesia has recently joined as one of the members of the international body initiated by Trump.

Citing ABC News, the draft of the institution’s budget states that countries that accept the invitation will be given membership for three years. However, permanent membership will be granted to member countries that contribute more than US$1 billion in cash to the Board of Peace in the first year.
