Switzerland and Los Angeles Kings forward Kevin Fiala was stretchered off late in the third period against Canada on Friday after an awkward hit by Tom Wilson.
Fiala will miss the rest of the Olympic tournament with a lower-body injury, Switzerland announced.
Wilson appeared to land on Fiala’s leg in the collision. There was no penalty on the play.
“We haven’t seen him yet. I think he went to the hospital,” Switzerland head coach Patrick Fischer said, according to NHL.com’s Nick Cotsonika. “Obviously, it doesn’t look very good. Tough, tough, tough moment for Kevin and the whole team, obviously.”
Fiala ranks second on the Kings with 18 goals and 40 points in 56 games, and he’s one of 10 NHL players on Switzerland’s roster.
