Principal photography has begun in Ireland on The Weir, the big-screen adaptation of writer-director Conor McPherson’s Olivier Award-winning play.
McPherson’s film stars the cast of the recently critically acclaimed stage revival of The Weir, which he also directed: Brendan Gleeson, Owen McDonnell, Seán McGinley, Kate Phillips, and Tom Vaughan-Lawlor.
“Set in a remote pub in rural Ireland, four local men – Jack, Brendan, Jim, and Finbar – gather for their nightly pints,” reads the synopsis of The Weir, which was first staged in 1997.
