Quick Share’s AirDrop support expands to the Google Pixel 9

In November 2025, Google did the unexpected by making Quick Share compatible with Apple’s AirDrop. More impressively, it achieved this without any help from Apple. Since then, the feature has remained exclusive to the Pixel 10 family, though Google promised to expand it to more Android devices this year. Now, it looks like that expansion is beginning with the 2025 Pixel 9 lineup, at least on a limited scale.

Several Pixel 9 owners on Reddit report that they can now use Quick Share to AirDrop files to iPhones, Macs, or iPads. The feature appeared on their devices after installing the latest Google Play system update, followed by an update to the Quick Share extension.
